Join us for a World Cafe at the Enlightened Business Summit Oct 29
World Cafe co-founder Juanita Brown and Online Cafe pioneer Amy Lenzo are teaming up to host an online World Cafe as the culminating session of a week-long online “Enlightened Business Summit” starting October 25. This is a great opportunity to experience an online Cafe geared specifically to a business audience – if you’ve been curious to experience for yourself just how powerful an online World Cafe can be, please join us. All the Summit sessions, including the World Café, are free, and we’d love to see you there, as we are exploring the use of this medium for hosting World Cafes not only in business, but in NGOs and other organizational and community settings.
Moving from Insight to Action: A World Café Strategic Dialogue will be held Friday, October 29th, from 1-2:30pm PST / 4-5:30pm EST and we’ll be staying an extra 1/2 hour to extend the conversation for those who want to explore further.
Click here to register and find out more about the other sessions. The Summit is co-hosted by Chip Conley, an inspiring business leader and one of the most popular speakers at this year’s TED conference.
You can participate in as many calls as you like and interact with both the featured leaders and other participants via the fabulous MaestroConference platform, which is phone based and easily connects you to others around the world for exciting exploration and engagement. We’ve begun to use this platform very successfully for a whole range of World Cafe style dialogues.
By registering you’ll also get free access to the full library of recordings from the Summit.
Please share this invitation with your friends and allies – all are welcome to participate.
Warm Wishes,
Juanita Brown and Amy Lenzo
P.S. If you’re interested in learning more about World Cafe Online Services or for help in hosting your own conversations, please contact Amy Lenzo.
NEW World Café Logo Competition!
The World Café New Logo Contest is now closed. We have received a number of extraordinary entries and the announcement of the contest winner and 5 finalists has been extended while we investigate the creative and legal viability of our top choices. Watch this space!
Inviting your image of the World Cafe. For over 15 years, the World Café Community Foundation and practitioners in the World Café community have worked with countless individuals, groups, corporations, and governments all over the world to enable conversations that matter, helping people on every continent host the important conversations about issues that matter most in our lives, communities, and organizations.
By enabling and encouraging individual and group interaction within “hospitable space”, our shared commitment to supporting collective wisdom and powerful communications has fueled the evolution of conversational leadership and helped to transform the worlds we live in.
In this critical moment, the World Café Community Foundation is making some significant changes to keep up with our growth, expand opportunities for engagement and ensure our sustainability in the years to come. We are embracing innovation in all our communications, and will be launching a new website to re-present ourselves in a way that symbolizes the essence of the World Cafe.
We’d like to invite you to be part of this shift! All contributions are welcome. Whether you're a professional designer, a student, graphic recorder, or simply someone who loves the World Cafe and has an artistic sensibility – if you have an idea for the new World Café logo, we’d like to see it.
Read on for more details, including Prizes, Design Specs, Entry Requirement and other Rules & Regulations…
What we are looking for:
We’re looking for an image that embodies the qualities of professionalism, simplicity, and boldness. The new logo should reflect the “identity” of the World Café – conversation, collaboration, connection, and innovation, and it should be classic (in the sense of timeless), and meaningful within a culturally aware global context.
Your design must have some continuity with the existing logo, in which the aspects with the most “equity” are the cup and the globe. That being said, we’re not limiting our search to a literal application of these two elements.
The new logo should also be a design that is easily translatable into multiple formats (special credit given for animated video footage), including different size differentials.
Who can enter:
The contest is open to interested parties of any age, from all countries, whatever your relationship is to the World Café. Students and professionals both are welcome, and people from outside the U.S. are especially encouraged to participate.
How many:
You are free to submit as many entries as you like. There is no cost for entry.
Design Specs
The Logo should be presented in accordance with the following:
•Original format, preferably vector (but we’ll accept a scan or clean photograph of your image)
•Minimum 300 dpi
•Minimum 500px wide, or 5” x 3”
•.tif, .jpg, or .ai file format
•Preferably in four color, but must also look crisp and effective in black and white (important: please include any precise color instructions for both web (RGB) and print (CMYK)
DEADLINE: YOUR WORK MUST BE SUBMITTED BY SATURDAY, July 31st at 5pm PST

Introducing new World Café intern: Benjamin Aaron Degenhart
Hey there,
i am Benjamin, very happy to work for and with The World Cafe from now on in global communications. Please let me share with you what i will be doing and tell you a bit about me…
You will see me a lot online as a community gardener for our online community – welcoming new members, keeping an overview of what is happening and helping people to find good spots and threads to share their stories and reflections. I want to be there in service for this diverse online community to flourish and live into it’s potential.
As you can see with the latest addition of our global map – i like to explore ways to relate in a tangible way to the diverse Collective that we are. Soon i will come with more visualization-fun of the collective data, i will show you a tag-cloud of peoples profile answers and you will be able to click on the keywords and see the related people as search result. What i can tell you already is that the average age of members is 44 years… so part of my mission is also to attract young energy here 🙂
The next days i will click around a lot and get an overview of what is alive in the multiple groups, threads and blogs. I will dive into individual stories and get a sense of what is alive and start sending you updates on the community life everyone now and then.
A few words about me; my 23yr young life has had important milestones like living in an ecovillage community in my home country Germany, doing a deep ecology training with a vision quest, working in the Hub in Berlin in communications, studying a bit of Bioinformatics, travelling the US and since last September studying and playing at the KaosPilots in Denmark, at the best school for the world 🙂 I love ecstatic dance and i love to see people connected to their source and shining bright in their unique beauty – what i stand for in my life at this point is to foster alive energy flows in all forms of expressions in myself and in others.
I am a very passionate and full-hearted networker and love to connect and conduct flows of information, motivation and inspiration. I resonate a lot with the field of collective intelligence and begin to birth my own contribution and energetic perceptions on movements an all layers of experience.
This days i am still very much glowing from the gorgeous Art of Hosting training in Karlskrona, Sweden last week with 90 young leaders from different programs. I was in the calling- and organizing team and it is so purely amazing to see what impact this gathering had on peoples motivation and in bringing possibilities of collaboration and connections into our middle.
You are welcome to connect with me through my profile on our online space or via benjamin.degenhart@gmail.com
coheartedly,
Benjamin Aaron Degenhart

“Groups” in TWC Online Community
One of the most wonderful opportunities in the new World Cafe online community space is the capacity we have to gather together in Groups and explore the precise elements of the World Cafe that we’re passionate about and/or connect with others in your geographic location. It’s not surprising that an international network like ours with so much to talk about have really maximized this opportunity.
After two months of being “live”, there are already 23 groups, in 6 languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Russian, and Indonesian. I will tell you a little about just two or three of them here, but I can’t possibly do justice to the many dynamic groups that have formed and I invite you to explore them for yourself. If you don’t find the group you are looking for, talk to me about how to host it yourself.
One of the very first groups to form in this community was Cafe Latino, hosted by Maria de los Angeles as a place to welcome the very special people who host World Cafes in Latin America. All in Spanish, it’s
extremely active, seeming almost to overflow with the exuberance and warmth of those who have often been described as the “heart” of the World Cafe.
Another group started more recently by Christine Whitney Sanchez is on Methods for Strategic Collaboration. The conversation here is focused and stimulating, going to the heart of what’s core to the work we do, no matter what form we use.
For those of us fascinated by graphic recording, there is the vibrant Art of Harvesting group, where a “knowing” beyond words is nevertheless conveyed through conversations about deep listening and reflection.
If you have not yet joined us in the new online community, we invite you to do it now! Go to www.theworldcafecommunity.org and sign up today.
