From our amazing friends in Japan:
The Generative Conversation BA Community (GCBC) is a Japan-based community dedicated to creating spaces for meaningful dialogue through the World Café. We bring people together to speak openly, listen deeply, and generate collective intelligence across diverse perspectives. Our activities are rooted in Japan, and our regular meetings and workshops are conducted in Japanese.
By integrating theory and practice, sharing insights domestically and internationally, and supporting the growth of practitioners, GCBC works to foster positive and sustainable social change.
Celebrating 30 Years of the World Café
2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the World Café. GCB sees this milestone not only as a celebration, but as a turning point to imagine the next 30 years of dialogue and collaboration.
To honor this moment, GCBC is launching a campaign to host “30 World Cafés” between October 2025 and May 2026. These cafés will take place in a wide range of contexts—community gatherings, organizations, education, local initiatives, nonprofits, and beyond—cultivating a culture of conversation and collective learning.
Invitation to Participate
We warmly invite individuals, organizations, and communities who resonate with the spirit of the World Café to join this campaign.
Participants will receive:
• Visibility and promotional support through GCBC channels
• Permission to use the official World Café 30th Anniversary logo
• Program design support, including question design and facilitation guidance
Together, we hope to look back and say: “2025 was the year when World Café conversations expanded in new and meaningful ways.”
Ongoing Learning & Practice
Since April 2025, GCBC has refreshed its regular gathering format to support both newcomers and experienced practitioners. Monthly sessions alternate between:
• Basic sessions, focusing on World Café foundations
• Advanced sessions, exploring deeper practice, inquiry, and creative harvesting
Looking ahead, in 2026, GCBC will continue hosting online monthly gatherings from February through December, held on the second Sunday of each month.
Please note that these regular gatherings are conducted in Japanese.
We look forward to connecting with practitioners and communities around the world and to sharing learning across cultures.
With appreciation,
Generative Conversation BA Community (GCBC)
